Uganda and Rwanda 2008:
August 10-18, 2008
Uganda and Rwanda, often referred to as the “Green pearls of Africa” provide extraordinary examples of the issues facing women’s reproductive health, maternal mortality, HIV/AIDS, human rights, and gender equality.
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is one of the only international development agencies that promote the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA aims to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect.
Delegates on this “behind the scenes” study tour will have a unique opportunity to learn about UNFPA’s work first-hand as well as trek for the rare mountain gorilla – an extraordinary primate that is greatly endangered due to the extensive population growth in the region.
The delegation will also trek for gorillas in the Parcs de Nationale Volcans in Rwanda!
