AWARD FOR THE HEALTH AND DIGNITY OF WOMEN

CRITERIA
This award is given to honor individuals whose work promotes women and who do this work in challenging circumstances. Additionally, it is to highlight the stories of courage and commitment that Americans rarely hear. Nominees for the Americans for UNFPA International Award must currently work for a program that is supported by UNFPA, as a volunteer or paid staff.
Because UNFPA works in more than 150 countries around the world, our finalists work in geographically diverse settings. Our awardees show that people who change the world come from many and varied backgrounds, from the affluent to those born in rural villages, from young activists, to those who have fought their entire lives for ideas in which they believe. Nominees work for a program that is supported by UNFPA, as a volunteer or paid staff. Formal education is not a requirement.
AWARD
Honorees will be flown to Washington DC and travel to New York City in early October where they will meet with members of Congress, speak at events and be honored at our Gala. Recipients of the award receive stipend of $5,000 (USD) toward her/his program.
